Leaders in Online Auctions

There are three steps to complete before you can attend an online auction. (1) Get a bidder number and password, (2) sign up for the auction you want to attend, and (3) send in a bank letter for the auction.

1. Get a Bidder Number and Password (--First Time Users Only--)

First go to our home page, www.equipmentfacts.com, and on the left hand side of the page you will see a link that says "Get a Bidder Number". Click there and fill out the online form, be sure to read the terms and conditions before you submit the form. You will receive an email within 24 hours with your bidder number and password. Keep these in a safe place; they are permanent and good for any Equipmentfacts auction.

2. Sign up for the Auction

After you have your bidder number and password you must activate them for the auction you would like to bid on. From our homepage, locate the The Auction Company auction you want to attend. To the right hand side there will be a link labeled "Auction Details", click there. Then enter your bidder number and password scroll down and read the terms and conditions for the auction. Be sure to click I accept the terms and conditions before you submit the form. If the application was successful you will be taken to a confirmation page.

3. The Bank Letter

The Auction Company Auctioneers will require a Bank Letter in order to be approved to bid online, this is clearly stated in the terms and conditions for the auction. The Bank Letter must be faxed to 1-908-842-0427. If you are unable to obtain a Bank Letter, contact The Auction Company Auctioneers for any special consideration in order to be approved to bid online. Below is a Sample Bank Letter.

"Mr. (Customer Name) is a customer in good standing at our bank. We will guarantee the payment of checks on his account (account number) up to (specify amount) dollars for purchase at your auction in (Auction Location) on (Auction Date). We hereby agree that no stop payment will be issued in conjunction with this letter."

4. Logging in to an Auction

Once you have completed steps 1-3 you are ready to attend the auction. On the day of the sale go to our homepage and locate the The Auction Company auction you would like to attend. Then you will see a flashing "Auction in Progress" button. Click there to login to the auction. You will be asked for your bidder number and password, then you will see the auction rules. Read the rules then click the "I agree" button at the bottom. Congratulations, you are now on the live Bidding Page.

Bidding Window Features:

The bidding window has many features used during online bidding. Working clockwise from the top left of the sample picture above, follow the arrows from the description to the correct part of the bidding window:

Live Video Feed

This will show the auction site and the equipment being sold.

Lot Description

Here you will see information about the current lot being sold. This includes a lot number and features of the lot, as well as serial number, miles, and any other information available.

Current Lot

Along the top of the page is the current lot, showing the lot number and name of the item.

Bid History Window

This shows all of the bids for the current lot. Floor indicates a bid onsite.

Bid Button

Click this to bid the asking price on a current lot.

Asking Bid

This number will appear in red and is the amount the auctioneer is asking for a lot. When you click the bid button this is the amount you are bidding.

Current Bid

This is the current high bid held by the auctioneer. If you are the high bidder your bidder number will appear below this number.

Sale Catalog Button

Clicking this at any time during an auction will open the sale day catalog in a new window. It will show all the lots being offered online.

My Purchases Button

Clicking this at any time during the auction will open a new window that shows all the lots you were the high bidder for at the auction. This list must be confirmed by the auctioneer before the sales are final.

Chat Button

Type a message in the small bar to the left of this then click chat to send a message to an auction administrator. This is often used during choice lots where you must message the lot number(s) to the auction administrator or you will receive the first lot of the choice by default. Any message you send can only be seen by the auction administrator.

Chat Module

Here is where you will see any messages sent out by the auction administrators. This may include special announcements, extra lot details, or a reply to a message you sent in.

Thumbnail Images

Click these small pictures to enlarge. The first picture on the far left is displayed by default. Pictures will include overall condition, miles and hours if available.
